SCMC 2022

Dear students and parents of Stevenson’s feeder schools,

We proudly welcome you to the third annual Stevenson Consortium Math Circle (SCMC), hosted by Stevenson’s very own math team!

You may already be familiar with the Stevenson Consortium Contest where students from our feeder schools compete against each other, but for years we have also wanted to provide an experience where we can learn together and develop a passion for mathematics together. The Math Circle is our answer to that desire. Our Math Circle event will be held in person this year at Stevenson High School.

WHO

All 7th and 8th graders from Stevenson feeder schools that are interested in learning what mathematics at a high school level (and beyond) looks like. Great for anyone who either has experience with local math contests and/or really enjoys math!

WHEN:

Stevenson Math Circle will take place over three Saturday Mornings, all from 9:30 AM—12:00 PM. The three dates for the event are 4/2, 4/9, and 4/16. Registering for this event will sign you up for all three days. It is recommended that you attend all three days since the registration fee accounts for all days.also features talks from Stevenson faculty who will all present on various topics in mathematics. Detailed agendas for each day will be shared later through email!

WHAT:

During this three-day event, content covered will be designed and compiled by Stevenson’s math team. Each of the three days will be focused on a topic inspired by our Guest Lecture Series. This year, we have planned a live talk from Grant Sanderson, the famed Stanford University grad who is most well-known for his mathematics YouTube channel 3blue1brown (over 4.2 million subscribers and 250 million views)! The event also features talks from Stevenson faculty who will all present on various topics in mathematics. Detailed agendas for each day will be shared later through email!

HOW:

The overall cost of this event per student is $35. This covers the cost of inviting speakers, t-shirt, and all other materials that will be used. These materials will all be distributed on the first day of the event. Payment options will be made available after registration forms have been received.
