Hello to the 200+ recipients of the MATH TEAM email blast!
COMPETITION SEASON INTRODUCTION:
This week we will formally begin preparation for our competition seasonOn Tuesday, we will sit and take a paper/pencil exam to not only simulate the test format, but also to help coaches make decisions on who will compete. It is imperative that you come to sit for this contest in order to be eligible. After the practice contest, we will sit in groups to debrief the contest and learn some ideas for improvement
As coaches make these decisions, there are two things we ask of you:
1. Fill out this uber-simple google form, stating that you are available on September 29, the evening of the first contest. Even if you are “not available,” it would be appreciated if you fill out the form.https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScKAvP-W5Xiudo1c_RDI9ZxaKLrVc6PHo5syMDdNBOPXTh26A/viewform?usp=sf_link
2. Your coach will make available to you a permission form via the google classroom. The form must be completed to participate in any NSML event, ICTM, AMC, AIME, or USAMO event this year.
NOTE OF CLARITY
• Due to competition restrictions, everybody will not be able to compete in all competitions. For instance, only 10 students per class will be invited to NSML #1 next week. But take heart! As competition topics vary, be hopeful that you will be able to qualify for one or even a few of our selective contests. AND, since Stevenson hosts NSML #2, we will be able to extend an invitation to many more students, AND everyone can participate in the AMC competition if they filled out their request form.
• For many events, we will take a school bus to and from the event, dine at a nearby restaurant, and compete at local high schools. Know that the COVID safety protocols for Stevenson High School will be in place at all times and that we will abide by the safety protocols of the restaurants and schools that we inhabit. NSML participating schools are doing their best to furnish large work spaces so that social distancing can be possible.
If you have any concerns or have scheduling conflicts, please email me and your coach. And for everyone, please take a moment to fill out the google form now, check out the google classroom for the permission form, look for some extra practice material, do a handful of problems, and get ready to be great on Tuesday.

Most sincerely yours,
