On April 18, the Stevenson Math Team traveled to Illinois State University for the ICTM State Finals and placed 2nd overall in the state with 972 points! The Stevenson Freshman-Sophomore 2-Person and Calculator teams placed first across the entire state, as well as Andy Chang (Fr) and Eric Zhang (Jr) in the individual competitions!
Junior Amber Dong shared, “I think I am having a lot of fun, and it’s definitely an honor [to be included on the roster for State]. … I’ve become closer friends with people that I didn’t know.” Freshman Jotin Samayamantri said, “I formed new relationships with people from other grades and from different schools as well. It was a pretty great experience. It was really fun and I learned a lot too.” Senior Jingyi Wu added, “For the past four years, ICTM state has been a great opportunity to get some math in, but it’s also been a chance to have fun with people in math team that you don’t see often. This was my last one, and it was really fun. In general, I’ve learned a lot in math team these past four years.”
